Emotional techno aka floaty bangers is a genre very close to my heart. We asked our friends at Innate - dedicated machine soul heads from Bristol Owain Kimber and Tom Gilbert - to give us their five favourite records in the genre as their label is a perfect example of that sound taken forward. Owain and Tom came together through a shared passion of UK electronica, techno raves (Lost / Atomic Jam / Bugged Out) and analogue synthesisers.

The blog turned label has just released it’s 8th release ‘Gilbert - Origins’, featuring top notch remixes from Nuron and Apiento [that's me - Ed] & Diego (Suzanne Kraft).

Here are five of their favourites cuts that have had a big influence on their sound...On with the program…

1 – 7th Plain – To Be Surreal

“An early Luke Slater production - a pure joyride of blissed out chords, deep drums and heavy subbass that induce sensations of deep hypnosis.”

2) Stasis - Point of No Return

"One of the finest pieces in the Stasis catalogue: layers of rising melody, precision percussion and alien synthesis collide. Another world is calling."

3) B12 - Silicone Garden (Likemind Mix)

"A hidden gem from B12’s 3rd LP ‘Time Tourist’, this is one of those moments where the universe almost stands still, amidst the mass of cosmic chaos and beaming photons."

4) Nuron - Eau Rouge

"Tough and beautiful, the mysterious and legendary Nuron works his alchemy on one of our favourite Techno tracks of all time, this is magic in action."

5) Detroit Escalator Co - Abstract Forward Motion (As A Mission)

"Tripping the light fantastic, Neil Oliverra summons a touch that is intricate and wholly uplifting. Taken from his landmark 'Soundtrack' 313 LP, you cannot help but lose yourself in the tapestry of this incredible work."

A brilliant selection. Follow Innate on their Bandcamp for more HERE.
