We like Black Bones here at Test Pressing. The Belfast based duo make grimy fun edits for the dancefloor and when DJing run right across the board from slow through to chug on to more chug up to house and beyond and back down again... Timmy Stewart of Black Bones has been on the scene in Belfast since time began so as they have a new album out if seemed a fitting time to ask him for a list of records that have bee rinsed in Belfast clubs over the years... Over to Timmy...

So here you go. It's hard to get this down to ten tracks as there's been so many amazing parties here over the years but I've tried to avoid the obvious and well documented but kept to the tracks that instantly make me think of the city.
1. Andrea Parker on Mo' Wax with the kind of murky start of the night number that created those rave butterflies in the pit of your stomach. Sheer anticipation of what was to come at those incredible art college nights on York Street.
2. A Tokyo Joes early morning anthem from the amazing Outer Rhythm stable and one that imo is still good to go!
3. This whole Deep Beats edits series got a proper rinsing in Belfast in the early to mid nineties, the siren in this one always transporting me back to Thursday nights in Seventh Heaven on the Dublin Road.
4. There’s always been a love for US imports in the city, esp the Wild Pitch sound. This record will always remind me of certain house nights, DJs in the city and working in Sean McCann’s Phuture Groove store.
5. Another slice of old gold here, the stabs are always so widescreen on a big system. A certified Holmes & McCready anthem!
6. Belfast really fell in love with the Metro Area sound and I for one hammered the Environ 12’s to death. I had the op to bring Darshan to the city to play a few times, resulting in some of the best selections, lock ins and afterparties the city has seen to this day.
7. Bandulu were light years ahead, I was lucky to get to see them play here live as a wide eyed teenager many times. This track on John Hesketh’s mighty rig was always enjoyably overwhelming.
8. Obvious I know but one I still dust down on occasion and let’s be honest everything Red Planet sounds beamed in from another Galaxy. After devastating a warehouse party with it recently, I think it’s safe to say I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this Belfast roof raiser. Every time that bass drop at around 3.50 happens, the whole crowd roar in unison.
9. A more modern Belfast anthem that was heard in many of the clubs in the city for a large portion of 2025. This one truly sits up in any set!
10. You can’t really have Belfast timeline selections without some Weatherall in it, as Andrew was extremely connected to our city for decades. I've lost count how many times, how many different venues and styles I saw him play here. Each time involving lots of head scratching around track IDs and always being enriched by the experience. This early S Express remix still sounds exciting to me
Boom. There you go... A killer Top 10 from Timmy. To get yourself some Black Bones head to their Bandcamp HERE.
