An hours-worth of trippy sideways sonics from Stella Z... One of London’s rising selectors, Stella Z has had quite the 2025, with both her output as a producer and DJing prowess cultivated out of a youth spent in a mountainous seaside town in China immersed in Mandarin and Cantonese pop, post-punk, and international sounds. Stella’s new fig-focussed ambient album which drew from distant memories of her childhood arrived via the excellent Music To Watch Seeds Grow By label in the spring - read the Test Pressing review here. Stella’s selecting skills have put her on the bill at Eternal Sun and Watching Trees festivals as well as highly-regarded club spaces like Lisbon’s Lux Fragil, Ziegrastraße 11 in Berlin, and South London’s triumvirate of wrongness Ormside Projects, M.O.T. and Spanners. Stella’s Test Pressing mix captures her locked into deep, trippy, percussive sounds nudging upwards from circa 110BPM.
