toRR records drop a new mini six track comp of music for all ecstatic occasions. Inspired in part by the new experiences of fatherhood (all four of the contributors here recently joined the sleepless nights club) and providing a broad palette of the label’s sounds for any listening time or place. Whatever the situation. Achila’s breezy Bamako keeps the top line high and bright for some sunshine morning vibes. Darker and more elastic sounds come from Docos, whose ‘Can of Pop’ goes deep and a little (but not too heavy) on the bass and drums, that’s nicely balanced with some bottom end wobble. ‘Plywood’, also by Docos, takes it a bit harder with a driving core beat that is very much the focus of the track and allows its other elements to do their thing around the outside.

Label regular, G. Delano brings some bongo inflected house sounds via ‘Pure Tub’, its slightly hectic backing tempered with some sweet synth and keyboard touches. ‘BAF’ meanwhile is a more abstract number, techy glitches and more angular drum patterns leading it into off kilter spaces. Last up, Subsea Jay’s ‘Every Time’ is a hands up Afro house stormer. Very much formed around a core of an exceedingly tight central drum pattern and vocal sample, a description makes it sound simple, but there’s plenty here to keep the dancefloor engaged. As an aside all Bandcamp proceeds are going to the Young Minds charity for youth mental health. Good people making good music and doing good things.
