As forward-thinking groovy music goes, it's hard to top Paul Murphy's Claremont 56 and its sublabel Leng (run with Simon Purnell). Every release is class from the artwork to the music and the pressing (they have done some CDs and those are pretty sweet as well--check the Psychemagik comps and Originals series). You can go deep into the TP basement labyrinth and dive into this interview from sixteen years ago with label boss man Paul 'Mudd' Murphy here...
For the past fifteen years, Leng has been an essential label putting out brilliant work by 40 Thieves, Cantoma, Payfone, Mushrooms Project, and so many more. Compilations by selectors like Phil Mison. A diverse roster with a distinctive sound - disco chuggers, a bit of sleaze, a dash of acoustic guitar. Sunkissed. Sides that seem to stretch time. Despite having a massive catalogue to draw on, they've gone and done their thing and chosen fresh cuts from label stalwarts. As with the ten-year comp, there is a bonus 10", a "A Something's Extra" as Stevie Wonder had it. It's all top groovers here, but there are highlights for sure--among them, this Payfone cut which I can't get enough of:

Cheers to Paul & Simon for fifteen years of top tunes !
