Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section rarely puts a foot wrong, and now its ever expanding repertoire gets a little bit more expansive again with this new one from Das Druid. Based in Melbourne, but unashamedly channeling vibrations from another city beginning with M from the other side of the world, the Das EP throws back to those formative sounds. Live band music with electronic dabblings that draw in psychedelia of course, combining hazy drums and guitar with tripped out vocals it’s all here.

‘Freedom’ breaks nicely, swirling with echo and subtle purpose, balancing out the organic and electronic elements of the band’s sound. It’s certainly nostalgic, but not contrived, and the expansive closing section takes it some place new. ‘Incense’ is in a more lysergic location, drifting guitar lines cross with the evangelical vocals and intertwine with the synth play. ‘Less Than 3’ is classic jangle taken anew, tabla rolls and gently throbbing bass all roll together into a spacious place. Plus the digi release has suitably appropriate remix action from Ruf Dug and Justin Robertson - perfect choices to connect the strands of Mancunian psych.

Das EP is out on 22 January via Rhythm Section.
