We don't do paid promo at Test Pressing. We listen to a quite a bit of music and if the inspiration strikes, we like to give it some love. That said, attentive readers may have noticed we've reviewed all the BPT 12s launched over the last year. What can I say, they've all been heaters. If you've slept on them, check the bandcamp and console yourself with digital as the physical appears to be mostly unobtainium.
LS Plus is Izaak & Anya from Loveshadow, Phil Cho (Puli & SY3), BPT honcho Jeremy Castillo, and Diego Herrera (Suzanne Kraft). With that kind of talent on hand I guess it’s no surprise that the latest BPT 12 is kind of an essential one right from the first cut. It's that sweet sound you want to hear pumping through a great system, echoing over a patio, or locking eyes after doing the washing up. The shaker, the pads, a bittersweet sax. Oh, that sounds like Anya from Loveshadow (it is). “If You Call My Name” is sophisti-pop perfection, the kind of music you fall in love to. The US Dub deconstructs it into a percussive housey banger, cut up vocals reverbed out. Really nice.
B-side gives us a gorgeous tempo shift with "S.O.S." downtempo house piano chords another melancholy soulful vocal from Anya. Closer instrumental "H-Rhythm" is sort of a dubbed out marimba groove that will make a perfect DJ tool. Some of the sweetest sounds this autumn, we'd love to see a full album from this crew,
If You Call My Name is out NOW on Bandcamp from BPT don't sleep !
